1 no
1 invitation to summer semester to compete for a seat.

2 schools still quiet.

and 1 family in minor crisis over the decisions looming:
 to move to Florida. Wait, do we even want to leave Boise? We do like it here, oddly enough.  and Florida is a 52 hour drive away. 

to change grad programs?  Oh, my lands, that the LSATs were for naught.

to buy an airstream and forgo all notions of stability and adulthood...just tooling around the open road in search of contentment.

Ahh.  decisions to decide.

well.  For all of our listeners out there in blogland...
Izaak's law school tally is 2 acceptances, 1 waitlist...and a few pending reviews.

The acceptances/waitlists are in 3 different states/regions/climates.  How does one prepare when one is facing so many unknowns? (with children)

Beyond that we are tired.  There is a reason that 18 year olds are poor college students.  The body does not take it so well in subsequent decades. 
Izaak went back to school 24 months ago and has gone straight through...no summer breaks.  Phase one of  Great and Crazy Plan (GCP) wraps up this May.  The 1/2 way point.  Phase two of GCP scheduled to begin this September.

We both admitted to each other this week that we have let our brains wander and daydream about moving back into a big-people-house.  We could just give someone 30-day notice...and move in...with a garage, and a family room, and a real backyard, and a dishwasher....but I digress.

ahhh. tonight we sleep well.

IKE in Boise is breathing a sigh of relief...and we will sleep well tonight. 

The 30 week baby checkup was great.  New baby is head down.  Iron levels are good - which is big news for a vegetarian with an iron supplement aversion (who me?).  With the 3rd trimester underway...well, life is a-changing

Izaak's big test results came in.  He got what he was shooting for (yippee)...which means the final phase of applications is soon to be underway.  We are so relieved and happy.  But also approaching the next stages with apprehension.  Big Steps.  We think life would be easier if he had bombed the test - albeit disappointing.  Then we could have refocused his grad school on something less demanding.  law school, here we come (Elliot and I are going to attend vicariously).

Texas. Why?

Just as I am starting to resign to the fact that my family may need to move to Texas for Izaak's grad school.  Those Texans go and make a lot of odd and terrible school curriculum decisions that un-resign me.

the Pro List

• a lot of law schools
• a lot of law schools that Izaak has a chance of getting in to
• cheaper tuition and living expenses than other states with potential schools (shout out to CA&NY)
• Milder winters than other states (yeah you MN)

The Con List
ok. So ignoring the drawl,  humidity, the culture of bigness, # of churches per capita, my image of dusty roads and pickup trucks,  my image of lots of crazy meat eaters everywhere,  and bugs - this boils down to the newly adopted curriculum changes and Elliot attending the first years of school...How bad can it be, you ask? 

• State board of Education member Bill Ames was quoted in Newsweek as saying that America is "not only unique but superior," and that its citizens are "divinely ordained to lead the world to betterment."
• The standards will refer to the U.S. government as a "constitutional republic," rather than "democratic"
• The curriculum claims that the U.S. government was infiltrated by Communists during the Cold War - and takes a supportive stance on McCarthyism.
• President of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis's inaugural address should be studied alongside Abraham Lincoln's
• Among the changes: Students would be required to learn about the “unintended consequences” of Title IX, affirmative action, and the Great Society, and would need to study conservative icons like Phyllis Schlafly, the Heritage Foundation, and the Moral Majority. 
• The slave trade would be renamed the “Atlantic triangular trade,” American “imperialism” changed to “expansionism,” and all references to “capitalism” have been replaced with “free enterprise.”
• The role of Thomas Jefferson – who argued for the separation of church and state – is minimized in several places, and the standards would emphasize the degree to which the Founding Fathers were driven by Christian principles.
